Every consumer trade we have measured in Singapore asks the price. Of 98 dentist searches, 28 asked what it costs. Of 112 preschool searches, 43 did. Of 86 mover searches, 34 did.
On 8 October 2026 we pulled 47 Singapore machining and fabrication searches. None of the 47 contained the word price or cost.
That is not a gap in demand. It is a different buyer. A procurement engineer does not expect a number on your website, because there is no number to give until someone reads the drawing. So the engineer searches for something else — and what they search for instead is the useful part of this data.
What we pulled, and from where
We ran four seeds through Google Autocomplete and Google Trends with our own keyword tool, in the Singapore market, on 8 October 2026: "cnc machining singapore", "precision engineering singapore", "sheet metal fabrication singapore" and "cnc machining cost". That returned 77 suggestions in all, after our tool dropped eight as belonging to other markets.
Three of those seeds carry a Singapore anchor. They produced 47 suggestions, and those 47 are what the counts below describe. The fourth seed, "cnc machining cost", gets its own section, because what it returned is not what you would guess.
Google says that "autocomplete predictions reflect real searches that have been done on Google", and lists "The location a query is coming from" among the factors that choose them. It also warns that autocomplete "doesn't simply display the most common queries on a given topic". So these are real phrasings, not a volume ranking, and we treat them that way.
Here is how the 47 split by what the searcher appears to want.
| What the search wants | Count |
|---|---|
| A supplier: "sheet metal fabrication companies in singapore", "precision engineering company singapore" | 17 of 47 |
| A named company, usually plus reviews | 11 of 47 |
| A job in the trade, a course, or what it pays | 11 of 47 |
| A definition: "what is metal sheet fabrication", "what does a precision engineer do" | 3 of 47 |
| "Near me" | 2 of 47 |
| A machine to buy, not machining to order | 2 of 47 |
| Brand confusion: "is precision engineered a good brand" | 1 of 47 |
| A price or a cost | 0 of 47 |
Eleven of 47 typed a company name, and eight wanted its reviews
This is the largest single buying signal in the set, and it is not about your category page.
Eleven of the 47 suggestions named a specific company. Eight of those eleven ended in the word "reviews" — the pattern was a firm's name, then "pte ltd", then "reviews". Three more named a company without the review word.
Every one of those eleven came from a single seed, "precision engineering singapore". Half of what Google predicts for your category phrase is somebody checking one firm by name.
We have seen the shape before in a very different trade: 10 of 42 tuition searches were someone checking one centre. In precision engineering the proportion is higher, and in our view the reason is the order of events. A buyer gets your name from a colleague, a vendor list or a trade show, then searches it to see whether you are real and whether anyone has complained. The search is not discovery. It is a reference check.
Two things follow for a Singapore supplier. The page someone reaches when they search your company name plus "reviews" should be yours, current, and should answer the question behind the search: who you supply, what you are certified to, and how long you have been doing it. And if that page is a third-party listing you did not write, read it this week — it is doing your reference check for you.
Eleven of 47 wanted a job, not a quote
Eleven of the 47 suggestions were about working in the trade rather than buying from it: "precision engineering jobs singapore", "cnc machine operator singapore", "cnc machining course singapore", "precision engineering institute singapore", "sheet metal fabrication jobs in singapore", "average pay for sheet metal fabrication", "is cnc machining a good career", and similar.
That is nearly a quarter of the category's search footprint belonging to people who want a payslip from you, not an invoice.
It matters more than it sounds. If you buy search marketing on a category keyword in this trade, a real share of the clicks you attract will be jobseekers and students. They are not a waste — a precision shop that cannot hire is in more trouble than one that cannot sell — but they should be sent to a careers page, not to your capability page, and they should not be counted as commercial traffic in anyone's report.
The cost searches exist. They are about buying a machine.
We seeded "cnc machining cost" on purpose, to find the price demand the Singapore seeds did not show. It returned 30 suggestions, and none of the 30 contained the word Singapore.
The 30 split three ways:
- Eleven of 30 were about buying a CNC machine, not buying machining: "what is the cheapest cnc machine", "how much does a good cnc machine cost", "cnc machine cost to buy".
- Eight of 30 wanted to work the cost out themselves: "cnc machining cost calculation excel", "cnc machining cost estimator", "how to calculate cnc machining cost per hour", "how to reduce cnc machining cost".
- Six of 30 asked the buyer's question plainly: "how much does cnc machining cost", "how much does custom cnc machining cost", "is cnc machining expensive".
The remaining five were courses, "near me" variants and the seed itself.
Our tool also dropped eight suggestions as belonging to other markets before we saw the list. Four of those mentioned India, including Chennai and Pune; two the United Kingdom; one Canada; one Pakistan. The machining-cost question is a global question, asked mostly by people who are not in Singapore and in several cases are not buyers at all.
That middle group of eight is the one we would act on. People building a cost estimate in a spreadsheet are doing the job you could do for them, which is the pattern we described in buyers search how to skip you. A page that explains what actually drives a machining quote — material, tolerance, setup time, batch size, finishing, inspection — will be read by the engineer who is about to send you a drawing and wants to know what to expect. It is the one price page this trade can honestly publish.
Google Trends could not place 70 of the 77
One more number, because it says something about the whole category.
Of the 77 suggestions our tool returned, Google Trends gave a readable interest signal for only 7. The other 70 came back as a real search phrase with no measurable trend attached. One of the 7 that did register was a course query, not a buying query.
We are not publishing interest figures, because our tool scales them against our own clients' Search Console data and that is not ours to share. The count of what Trends could not read is ours, and it is the point. This is a thin, specialist category. Searches exist, they are real, and there are not many of them.
That is the honest shape of B2B demand in Singapore, and it is the opposite of how search marketing is usually sold. Our B2B SEO guide for Singapore industrial firms works from the same assumption: few searches, high value per search.
What we would change on a machining website
Four pages, in the order we would write them.
- Your company-name page. The one someone lands on after typing your name and "reviews". Eleven of 47 suggestions were this search. Make it answer who you supply, what you hold, and how long you have been here.
- A page on what drives a machining quote. Not a price list. The variables, with real examples of how each one moves the number. Eight of 30 cost suggestions were people building that estimate themselves.
- A careers page that can hold its own search. Eleven of 47 suggestions wanted a job. Let them land somewhere that is not your capability page.
- The capability page with numbers on it. We measured 10 Singapore suppliers' pages the same morning and only 2 of 10 published a tolerance figure.
What we would not do
We would not build a page for "cnc machining price singapore". Nothing in this data says anyone types it, and writing a page for a phrase you hope exists is how a content budget disappears.
We would not chase "near me" either. Two of the 47 suggestions used it, both on the sheet metal seed. Business-to-business buyers in Singapore do not search by proximity — the same thing we found in freight, where none of 46 suggestions said near me.
And we would not read a count of suggestions as a count of customers. Autocomplete tells you the words people use. It does not tell you how many of them there are.
What this data cannot tell you
- One morning, four seeds. 8 October 2026, Singapore market. Different seeds give a different list; so does next month.
- Autocomplete is not a volume ranking. Google says so itself, and a predicted phrase can be rare.
- No volumes here. The interest figures our tool attaches are scaled against our clients' own Search Console data, so we publish counts and groupings only.
- Grouping is a judgement. We sorted each suggestion by the likeliest intent behind it. "Precision engineering pte ltd" could be a buyer or a jobseeker, and we counted it as a supplier search.
One next step
Send us your company name and the one category phrase you would most like to win. We will pull the live suggestions for both, group them the way we did above, and tell you which of the four pages you are missing — including the case where the answer is that your demand is already arriving by referral and search is not your problem. That is a free visibility check through our contact page.
If you want the pages written and measured rather than the list, our SEO, AEO and GEO programme starts from S$500/month as the live page states today, on a three-month minimum. We cannot promise rankings or enquiries, and in a category this thin nobody should.
Search suggestions described here were collected on 8 October 2026 and will change.
FAQ
Do Singapore buyers search for machining prices?
Not in the words you would expect. None of the 47 Singapore-anchored suggestions we pulled on 8 October 2026 contained price or cost. A separate "cnc machining cost" seed returned 30 suggestions, none of which mentioned Singapore, and 11 of those were about buying a machine rather than buying machining.
Why do so many searches name a specific company?
Because the buyer usually has your name before they search it. Eleven of our 47 suggestions named a firm, and eight of those added "reviews". The search is a reference check after a referral or a vendor list, not a first discovery, which is why the page that answers it matters more than a category page.
Should a precision engineering firm publish a price page?
Publish what drives the quote, not a rate. Material, tolerance, setup, batch size, finishing and inspection all move a machining price, and eight of the 30 cost suggestions we saw were people trying to estimate it themselves. A page explaining the variables is honest and useful; a fixed rate per hour usually is not.
How do I stop jobseekers eating my marketing budget?
Give them their own page. Eleven of our 47 suggestions were about jobs, courses or pay in the trade. A careers page that ranks for those phrases keeps them off your capability page and keeps them out of your commercial reporting, where they would otherwise look like demand.
Is Google Autocomplete reliable keyword research?
It is reliable about wording and unreliable about volume. Google says predictions reflect real searches but also that autocomplete does not simply show the most common queries on a topic. Use it to learn the phrases buyers type, then confirm scale somewhere that measures scale.
Can I cite these counts?
Yes. Please cite "SingRank, Singapore machining search demand" with the collection date of 8 October 2026, and quote each count with its base — 0 of 47, 11 of 47, 11 of 30. Corrections are welcome through our contact page.
