43 of 112 Preschool Searches Ask What It Costs

Contents11

Ask a preschool operator what parents want to know and you will hear about curriculum, teacher ratios and whether the child will settle. Ask Google what parents actually type and you get a different answer, repeated in dozens of forms.

On 1 October 2026 we expanded three seed phrases through Google Autocomplete for the Singapore market using our own keyword tool. Three seeds returned 112 distinct real queries. 43 of the 112 asked what it costs. No other group came close.

That is 38 of every 100 suggestions pointing at one question, in a sector where most centre homepages answer it nowhere. The rest of the list is just as useful, because it names the pages you are missing and the visitors who are not parents at all.

Where these 112 searches came from

We seeded three phrases: "preschool singapore", "childcare fees singapore" and "infant care singapore". Autocomplete returned 113 rows, which de-duplicated to 112 distinct queries. Every phrase below is one a real person typed often enough for Google to suggest it. Source: Google Autocomplete and Google Trends, pulled through our keyword tool for the Singapore market on 1 October 2026.

One number we will not publish is monthly search volume. Our tool estimates it by scaling Google Trends interest against an anchor keyword drawn from our own clients' Search Console data, which makes the figure useful to us internally and unfit to publish as a fact about your market.

Only 17 of the 112 queries had any measurable Trends signal at all. The other 95 came back as suggestions with no volume data. If you have ever been handed a keyword plan where every row carries a confident monthly number, that is worth remembering: most of a real long tail cannot be sized, which is an argument for grouping by intent rather than sorting by a column.

Intent group Count (of 112)
Money: fees, price, cost, how much, cheapest, rates 43
Location: near me, in Singapore, a named town 23
Comparison: best, top, good, list of, how many 17
Not a parent buying a place 13
A specific centre named 13
Reviews or Reddit 13
How-to and definitions: what age, how to choose, what to pack 12
Subsidy 4

Groups overlap, because a query can ask two things at once. Each count is out of the same 112.

Money is 43 of 112, and it is three questions, not one

The money group splits cleanly when you read it rather than count it.

What is the going rate. Phrases like "childcare fees singapore", "infant care rates singapore", "nursery fees singapore". The parent is calibrating. They want a sector number before they judge yours.

What is the cheapest. "Cheapest preschool in singapore", "affordable preschool singapore for foreigners". A smaller group, and one many operators wrongly assume is the whole money group.

What does a specific centre charge. Five queries paired a centre's name with price or fees. That is the most valuable group in the list, and we come back to it below.

Three queries asked for a "price list" outright. A parent asking for a price list has already decided comparing is the task, and if your site offers no list they will use someone else's. Two more carried a year, "childcare fees singapore 2026" and "childcare fees singapore 2025", which means the asker expects the number to change annually and distrusts an undated page. They are right to: the caps did change on 1 January 2026.

10 of 112 asked whether the fee changes for a foreigner or a PR

This is the finding that surprised us, and the one we have not seen on any preschool fee page.

Ten of the 112 queries asked about residency status: "preschool singapore fees for foreigners", "singapore childcare fees for pr", "infant care singapore price for foreigners", "child care fees for foreigners in singapore", and six more in that shape. Seven of those ten also contained a money word. Parents are not asking an abstract policy question. They are asking what they will pay.

The reason this group exists is structural. ECDA's subsidy scheme pays a Basic Subsidy to Singapore Citizen children enrolled in an ECDA-licensed infant or childcare centre, with an Additional Subsidy where the main applicant is working and gross monthly household income is $12,000 or below. Partner Operator fee caps, per ECDA, apply to Singapore Citizen children specifically.

So for a sizeable share of households in Singapore, the published fee is not the number they pay, and whether they get the subsidy at all turns on citizenship and working status. A fee page written for one type of family answers only part of its audience.

Four more queries asked about the subsidy directly, including "infant care singapore price after subsidy". Fourteen of 112, taken together, are asking a question about who pays what. We have yet to see a centre homepage that segments its fee line that way.

When a parent types your name, they add "price" or "reviews"

Thirteen queries named a specific centre. Every single one of those 13 added something: five added price or fees, and eight added reviews.

Not one named a centre on its own. In this sector the brand search is never just the brand.

That is a direct instruction about two pages you should own: one answering what you charge, one where a parent can read what families say. If you do not publish them, the slot goes to a directory or a forum thread, and three queries appended "reddit", including "best preschool singapore reddit".

A parent going to Reddit for your reviews is not disloyal. They are going where the answer is. We made the same argument about buyers searching for ways to skip you, and the response is the same: write the page, including the parts that are not flattering.

13 of 112 were not parents looking for a place

A little over one in ten of this list is traffic you do not want. It is worth knowing which rows they are before building pages around a seed phrase.

  • Jobs: "preschool singapore jobs", "preschool singapore career", "infant care singapore job", "preschool teacher vacancy in singapore for malaysian".
  • Training: "infant care singapore course". Someone wanting to qualify as an educator, not enrol a child.
  • Employment leave: three queries about childcare leave, including "childcare leave singapore form" and "childcare leave singapore for self employed". That is an HR question with no connection to your centre.
  • A different service entirely: "best dog day care singapore", "day care singapore for elderly", "how much is student care fees in singapore".
  • A different country: "singapore preschool coimbatore reviews", which is about a school in India.
  • Buying a business: "preschool for sale in singapore".

The practical consequence is that "preschool singapore" as a target phrase delivers a mixed audience, and the jobs intent inside it is strong. If you rank for the bare seed and your enquiry quality disappoints, this is one explanation. It is also why we read impressions that never become clicks as an intent-mismatch question first.

Worth saying plainly: we did not measure how much traffic each group sends. We counted suggestions. A group of 13 suggestions is not necessarily 13% of your visitors.

What the comparison and location groups are really asking

Seventeen queries used best, top, good, list of or how many. Four of those 17 named a type: international, montessori, private and POP. The parent asking one of those four is not asking for the best preschool in Singapore. They are asking for the best preschool of a kind they have already chosen.

That matters because "best preschool singapore" is close to unwinnable and largely irrelevant. We ran it on the same day, and 10 of the 20 results were not about Singapore preschools at all: preschool TV shows, preschool books, preschool apps, preschool software for Linux, a nursery in Abu Dhabi and a school in Lucknow. A phrase that ambiguous is a poor target. "Best montessori preschool singapore" is a different proposition, because it names something checkable about you.

Twenty-three queries were locational, but only two named an actual town, Jurong West and Bishan, and both of those sat inside a branded query. For a walking-distance purchase that is thinner than we expected, and we would not over-read it. Autocomplete under-represents town-level phrasing, which tends to surface once a search engine already has a location signal of its own.

What I would do with this list

Five pages, in this order of return.

  1. A fee page in your own name. Monthly figure or from-range by programme, GST stated, deposit and registration named separately, dated, with the year in the heading.
  2. A line on that page for each household type. Citizen with a working applicant, citizen without, PR, foreigner. Say which subsidies apply and which do not. Link ECDA for the rule rather than restating it as your own.
  3. A reviews or parent-feedback page in your own name, including what families say you are not good at. Eight queries want this page.
  4. One page per programme type you genuinely are, using the qualifier parents type: montessori, bilingual, international, inclusive.
  5. A careers page strong enough to absorb the jobs searches, so parent-facing pages stop trying to serve both audiences.

Our guide for tuition centres covers the education-sector mechanics of those pages, and the structural read of what parents type is the same one we found in 42 tuition searches, where a quarter of the list was also not a parent shopping for a place.

What this costs, and what it will not fix

A fee page with four household lines takes an afternoon and commits you to maintaining it. Publishing honest parent feedback costs you control of the narrative, and the first unflattering line is the one that makes the rest credible.

What none of it fixes: these 112 queries describe the whole of Singapore, not your catchment. Search routes a decision that already exists; it does not create young children within walking distance of your centre. If the families are not there, no arrangement of pages puts them there. Sometimes our honest answer to an operator is that the demand nearby is too thin to justify the spend.

Method and limits

  • Autocomplete is suggestion data, not volume. We report counts of distinct suggestions and how they group, and publish no volume estimates.
  • Three seeds, one market, one day. Different seeds return different tails. This is 1 October 2026 for Singapore.
  • 112 distinct queries after de-duplicating 113 returned rows. Groups overlap and each count is out of the same 112.
  • The grouping is ours, and one group was judged by reading rather than matching: whether a query comes from a parent. Reasonable people could sort two or three rows differently.
  • This is marketing guidance, not regulatory advice. Verify any statement about subsidies, caps or eligibility against ECDA's own pages before putting it on your site.

One next step

Tell us your centre's name and the programmes you run. We will pull the same autocomplete list for your area and show you which of these questions your website currently answers and which it leaves to a directory. That is a free visibility check through our contact page.

If you want those pages written and measured, our SEO, AEO and GEO programme starts from S$500/month on the live page today, with a three-month minimum. We will not promise a ranking or an enrolment, and if the catchment data says the demand is thin we will tell you that instead of selling you a programme.

Search suggestions were collected on 1 October 2026 for the Singapore market through Google Autocomplete and Google Trends. Counts describe that snapshot and will change. This page names no business.

FAQ

What do Singapore parents search for before choosing a preschool?

Money, more than anything else. Of 112 distinct autocomplete suggestions we collected on 1 October 2026, 43 asked about fees, price, cost or how much. Location accounted for 23, comparison phrases for 17, and reviews or Reddit for 13 of the same 112.

Why is search volume missing from these counts?

Our keyword tool estimates volume by scaling Google Trends interest against an anchor keyword taken from our own clients' Search Console data. That is client data and an estimate, so publishing it as a fact about your market would be wrong. Counts of suggestions and their grouping are reportable.

Should a preschool target "best preschool singapore"?

We would not. We ran that search on 1 October 2026 and 10 of 20 results were not Singapore preschools, including preschool TV shows, books, apps and software, plus schools in Abu Dhabi and Lucknow. A qualified phrase such as "best montessori preschool singapore" describes something checkable about you.

Why do parents add "reviews" to a centre's name?

Because they want an account that is not the centre's own. Of 13 queries naming a specific centre, eight added reviews and five added price. Three further queries named Reddit. If your site has no honest feedback page, a forum thread or directory listing answers for you.

Do preschool fees differ for PRs and foreigners in Singapore?

Subsidy eligibility does. ECDA's scheme pays Basic Subsidy to Singapore Citizen children in licensed centres, with Additional Subsidy subject to working status and household income, and Partner Operator caps apply to Singapore Citizen children. Check ECDA's own pages for current rules before relying on this.

Can I cite these counts?

Yes. Please cite "SingRank, Singapore preschool search demand, 1 October 2026" with a link to this page, and quote each figure with its base, such as 43 of 112. If you think a grouping is wrong, tell us through our contact page and we will publish the correction.
