Waterproofing Searches: Reviews Beat Price, 10 to 8
Contents9
Waterproofing searches in Singapore are not mostly about price. On 3 November 2026 we pulled 40 distinct search suggestions for the trade and grouped them by what the searcher wants. Ten asked who is best or what the reviews say. Eight asked what it costs. Reviews and reputation beat price, 10 to 8.
Two more things were absent. Nobody asked for a waterproofing contractor "near me", and nobody named a town or an estate. Six of the 40 were not about the trade at all: they were people shopping for waterproof shoes, jackets and mascara.
That changes which page an owner should write next, and we show the grouping below so you can disagree with it.
Key takeaways: reviews and "best" beat price, 10 to 8
Here is the whole set, grouped by what the searcher appears to want. Every phrase came back from Google Autocomplete through our keyword tool on 3 November 2026. We group by hand, and the borderline calls are ours.
| What the searcher wants | Suggestions | Share of 40 |
|---|---|---|
| Who is best, or what the reviews say | 10 | 25% |
| What it costs | 8 | 20% |
| Waterproof consumer goods, not the trade | 6 | 15% |
| Something is leaking right now | 4 | 10% |
| A contractor, specialist or company | 4 | 10% |
| Which job or which method | 3 | 7.5% |
| A rule, standard or requirement | 2 | 5% |
| Plain "waterproofing singapore" and its variant | 2 | 5% |
| Whose problem the leak is | 1 | 2.5% |
Two details inside the biggest group matter more than its size. Five of the 10 were explicit review searches, and two of those five named a particular firm. Five were "best" searches: best waterproofing contractor, best waterproofing specialist, and "which waterproofing is best".
So a quarter of this demand is a buyer who has already decided to hire someone and is now checking whether to trust you, or picking between named candidates. That is a different reader from the one who wants a quote.
What we typed, and what came back
We ran three seeds through our keyword tool in the Singapore market: "waterproofing singapore", "waterproofing cost singapore" and "ceiling leak singapore". The three seeds returned 28, 6 and 7 suggestions. One phrase appeared twice, so the deduplicated total is 40.
The source matters for how much weight to put on this. Google's own help page says that "once you start to type, autocomplete predictions reflect real searches that have been done on Google", and in the same breath that "predictions aren't assertions of facts or opinions, but in some cases, they might be perceived as such" (How Google autocomplete predictions work). So these are real phrases, weighted by Google towards what is being searched now, in Singapore. They are not a census of every query.
One honest gap. Our tool's trend step was rate-limited on the main seed on 3 November, so we have no reliable rising-or-falling direction for these phrases and we are not publishing one. Anyone telling you waterproofing searches are up a specific percentage this quarter should show you where the number came from, which is the test in is that search demand yours.
Why nobody searched a town
Not one of the 40 phrases contained a Singapore town, estate or region, and not one said "near me".
That is unusual for a trade. Our area search census found 265 of 620 service searches kept the town in the phrase. Aircon, plumbing and tuition all throw up town-level versions readily. Waterproofing did not.
The reason is probably the shape of the job. A ceiling leak is not a same-hour callout where the customer wants the nearest van; it is a scheduled visit, usually after an inspection, from a firm that will travel across the island. The buyer is not optimising for distance. They are optimising for not doing this twice.
The practical consequence is blunt: a set of town pages for waterproofing is unlikely to earn its keep. If you have built "waterproofing Tampines", "waterproofing Jurong" and nine more, the demand we can see does not support them, and near-identical town pages are the pattern Google's spam policies treat harshly. Put the effort into the comparison and trust pages instead.
The word "waterproof" brings shoppers, not homeowners
Six of the 40 suggestions were for waterproof products: shoes, a backpack, a jacket, mascara, eyeliner and jewellery. All six came from the "best waterproofing singapore" branch of the expansion, where Google's predictions slide from the trade to the adjective.
This is a measurable version of a problem we have written about in choosing your trade's word. If you buy ads or write pages around bare "waterproof" and "best waterproof", 15% of the surrounding demand in our sample is retail traffic that will never call you. Keep the trade noun attached: waterproofing contractor, waterproofing specialist, toilet waterproofing, ceiling leak repair.
One searcher asked whose problem the leak is
A single phrase in the set asked about responsibility rather than service: "condo ceiling leak responsibility singapore".
One out of 40 looks like noise. We think it is the most interesting phrase in the list, for a reason that has nothing to do with volume. It is the only phrase where the searcher does not yet know whether they are the customer. Someone with a wet ceiling in a condominium is trying to work out whether this is their bill, their upstairs neighbour's, or the management corporation's — and until that is settled, nobody is hiring anybody.
Whoever answers that question gets the enquiry when it resolves. In our view that is the single best page a Singapore waterproofing firm could write that it almost certainly has not written, and no competitor in the searches we ran had it as a destination.
We are not going to draft the answer here, because the responsibility rule turns on strata and lease terms and we are not lawyers. Write it with the official position in front of you and cite the source on the page.
What an owner should do with this
Four moves, in the order we would make them:
- Write the comparison and trust page, not another service page. A quarter of this demand is someone checking whether you are the right firm. That page carries your warranty terms in full, who turns up, how long the job takes, and what a bad outcome looks like.
- Answer the responsibility question. For HDB flats and for condominiums, separately, sourced to the agency that sets the rule. It is the only page in this set with no incumbent.
- Put a number on price anyway. Eight of 40 phrases want it, and in our read of eight Singapore waterproofing websites only one showed a figure for the work. A band plus "confirmed after inspection" beats "affordable".
- Skip the town pages. The demand we measured does not ask for them.

What this read cannot tell you
It is 40 phrases from one tool on one day, grouped by a person who could be wrong.
Autocomplete tells you what is being typed, not how many times. We are not allowed to publish monthly volume figures from our own tooling, because the estimates behind them are built partly from client data, so treat every number on this page as a count of suggestions and nothing more. Three seeds also shape the result: a fourth seed such as "roof repair" or "water seepage" would return a different mix, and the shares above would move.
And a count of searches is not a count of money. Eight price searches from homeowners wanting a S$300 toilet patch are worth less than one responsibility question from a management corporation with a block to fix. Demand tells you where attention is. It does not tell you where margin is, and the two part company more often in trades than anywhere else.
One next step
Open your own site and count how many of the nine groups above it answers. If the answer is three or fewer, you have found a month of writing, and it is writing rather than rebuilding.
If you would rather we ran the same grouping on your trade and told you which page to write first, send us the phrase you think your best customer types, through our contact page. It starts as a free visibility check.
One thing we will not claim: that demand existing means you will capture it. The firms already holding these searches are not short of visibility.

FAQ
What do Singapore customers actually search before hiring a waterproofing contractor?
Mostly trust and price, in that order. Of 40 distinct autocomplete suggestions we pulled on 3 November 2026, 10 asked who is best or what reviews say, 8 asked what it costs, 4 described a leak happening now, and 3 named a specific job or method such as roof, toilet or membrane.
Do waterproofing searches in Singapore include town names?
Not in our sample. None of the 40 phrases contained a town, estate or region, and none said "near me". That differs from trades such as aircon servicing and tuition, where town-level versions are common, and it suggests town landing pages are a weak investment for this trade.
Why do waterproof shoes and mascara show up in waterproofing research?
Because Google's predictions follow the adjective. Six of our 40 suggestions were consumer goods: shoes, a backpack, a jacket, mascara, eyeliner and jewellery, all from the "best waterproofing singapore" branch. Keeping the trade noun in your keywords and page titles filters them out.
Is it worth writing about who pays for a condo ceiling leak?
In our view yes. It was the only one of 40 phrases where the searcher does not yet know whether the bill is theirs, and no provider page held that question as its destination in the searches we ran. Source the rule to the responsible agency and say plainly that it is not legal advice.
Why does this page show no search volume numbers?
Because the volume estimates in our tooling are built partly from our clients' Search Console data, and that is their data, not ours to publish. Counts of suggestions and how they group by intent are ours, so that is all you will see here.
Can I cite these figures?
Yes. Cite "SingRank, Singapore waterproofing search demand, 3 November 2026", quote each count with its base of 40, and keep the autocomplete caveat. Corrections are welcome through our contact page.
