7 of 65 Pest Searches Named a Firm, 4 Added Reddit

Contents9

Most advice about pest control marketing assumes the buyer arrives with a problem and no shortlist. We pulled the real phrases on 5 October 2026 and a chunk of them arrive the other way round: holding a name, checking it.

Of 65 unique Singapore pest control suggestions, 7 contained a specific company's name and 4 appended "reddit". That is 11 of 65 where the person is not looking for a provider. They have one, from a neighbour, a management agent or a forum, and the search is the audit.

Another 14 of 65 asked the price. Exactly 1 said "near me". And 5 of 65 were not customers at all.

Where the 65 suggestions came from

We ran three seeds through our own keyword tool on 5 October 2026, in the Singapore market: the service ("pest control singapore"), the service plus money ("pest control singapore price") and the problem ("bed bugs singapore"). The tool expands each seed through Google Autocomplete and returns the predictions, which came back as 78 rows and 65 unique phrases after the overlaps were removed. One suggestion belonged to another market and was dropped.

Two things about what that list is. Google's own explanation of autocomplete says "Autocomplete predictions reflect real searches that have been done on Google", so these are phrasings people actually type rather than words we invented. The same page is careful about the other half: autocomplete "doesn't simply display the most common queries on a given topic". So this is a map of how demand is worded, not a ranking of how much of it there is.

We also do not publish monthly volume figures for these phrases. Our estimates are derived partly from the Search Console data of businesses we work for, and that is their data, not ours to put on a page. Counts of suggestions are ours, so counts are what you get.

11 of 65 were already holding a name

Seven suggestions attached a specific company's name, mostly paired with "reviews", "review" or "price", and one with "by owner". Four more added "reddit" to a generic phrase. We name none of the companies, because the point is the pattern, not who it landed on.

Why this happens in pest control specifically: the decision is made under mild panic, in a block of flats, and someone nearby has already had the same problem. Condo management circulates a contractor. A neighbour says who came. The buyer does not need discovery. They need reassurance that the name they were handed is real.

What that asks of your website is unglamorous. Your own name plus "review" should return something you wrote or control. Your Google Business Profile should be complete and recently touched. And the facts a sceptical reader wants should be on the page in a form they can check: the licence category, the registration number, how long you have operated.

That last one is the gap we measured in the same industry on the same day. In today's study of 10 Singapore pest control pages, 7 claimed something about NEA and only 1 named the licence and printed a number. The buyer arriving to verify you finds an adjective.

14 of 65 asked the price, and only 1 said "near me"

Price was the single largest explicit question. The 14 price phrases were not all the same question, which matters for what you write:

  • Four asked for a list: "price list", "price list pdf", and variations.
  • Four attached price to one pest: ants, cockroaches, termites, bed bugs.
  • Two attached it to a property: HDB flats.
  • Two asked in plain words: "how much is pest control singapore", "what is a good price for pest control".
  • Two asked for the floor: "cheapest pest control singapore", "best pest control singapore price".

"What is a good price for pest control" is the one we would write for first. It is a question about whether they are being overcharged, not about your rate card, and nobody with a price page is answering it.

Meanwhile "near me" appeared in a single suggestion out of 65. We keep finding this across trades: 1 of 38 in our accounting demand read. Singapore is small, people name towns or say nothing at all, and an agency selling you a "near me" strategy is selling you a phrase your buyers are not typing.

21 of 65 were about bed bugs. Only 9 mentioned hiring anyone.

The bed bug family was the biggest cluster in the set: 21 of 65 suggestions. Of those, 9 mentioned a service of any kind, whether pest control, exterminator, specialist, removal, control or treatment. The other 12 were about the bugs: are there bed bugs in Singapore, are they common, how common, how to get rid of them, bed bug spray, hotels.

Three of those 21 were asking whether this is even a Singapore problem. Two were shopping for a spray.

The honest reading is that the largest block of problem-driven demand in this trade has not yet decided to hire anyone. Writing a page that only sells a treatment misses most of it. Writing a page that answers "how do I know it is bed bugs and not something else", and says plainly when a spray is enough and when it is not, catches people a week before they call. Our piece on why buyers search how to skip you sets out why giving away the DIY answer is usually the cheaper acquisition.

5 of 65 wanted your job, not your service

Five suggestions were from people who want to work in pest control: "job", "salary", "vacancy", "vacancy in singapore for foreigners", and "pest control course singapore price". That last one sits inside the price cluster and is not a customer at all.

This is the quiet tax on a headline keyword. If someone shows you impressions for "pest control singapore" and calls it buyer demand, a measurable slice of that family is jobseekers and course enquiries. It does not make the keyword worthless. It does mean a careers page is doing some of your SEO work for free, and that you should expect your enquiry rate from that traffic to be lower than a price phrase would give you.

What we would put on the site because of this

Four pages, in the order we would build them.

  • A price page that answers the fairness question. Lead with a range, say what moves it, and answer "what is a good price" directly. 14 of 65 suggestions justify one page; none of them justify five.
  • A page per pest, not per town. 29 of 65 suggestions named a specific pest. Six named a property type. Nobody but you cares about your service area list.
  • A verification block on every page. Licence category, registration number, years in operation, real address. This is the page that has to survive your name plus "reddit".
  • A "is it actually bed bugs" page that covers the signs, what a spray does and does not reach, and when to stop treating it yourself. 12 of 21 bed bug suggestions never mention hiring anyone.

Our guide to SEO for pest control companies in Singapore covers how these fit together with the Maps side.

What this costs, and what it does not buy

Four pages written properly is a few weeks of someone's attention, or an agency invoice. The verification block costs an hour. The honest DIY page costs you some jobs you would otherwise have quoted, and we think that is the right trade, because the people it loses you were going to buy a spray anyway.

What a demand read like this cannot do is create demand. These 65 phrases exist because Singapore has bed bugs, cockroaches and termites, and because people in flats talk to each other. If you ran the same three seeds for a service nobody searches for, the list would come back thin, and the right answer would be to not hire a search agency at all. We set out that test in before you incorporate, check if anyone is searching.

One next step

Send us your trade and your three main pests. We will run the same three seeds for you, group the suggestions the same way, and tell you which questions your site currently answers and which it does not. It starts as a free visibility check through our contact page.

What we will not tell you is how many people search each phrase, because those estimates come partly from our clients' data.

FAQ

What do Singapore customers search before buying pest control?

In our sample of 65 suggestions on 5 October 2026, the largest groups were the plain service or pest name (19), the price (14) and shortlisting phrases such as best, top, reviews or reddit (14). Seven named a specific company and five were looking for a job in the trade.

Do people search "pest control near me" in Singapore?

Barely, in this sample. Exactly 1 of 65 suggestions said "near me", and a second attached it to prices. Singapore buyers tend to name a town, a flat type or a pest instead, so a strategy built on "near me" is aiming at a phrase they are not typing.

Why do searches include the word reddit?

Because the buyer is verifying rather than discovering. Four of our 65 suggestions added "reddit" to a generic phrase, and another seven named a specific company. Both patterns mean the shortlist was built somewhere else and the search is the checking step.

Should a pest control website publish prices?

It answers the second-largest group of questions we found, so yes, with a condition attached. A from-price with what moves it, plus a direct answer to "what is a good price for pest control", covers the intent without committing you to a figure that ignores flat size or infestation level.

Does SingRank publish search volume figures?

No. Our volume estimates are derived partly from the Search Console impressions of businesses we work for, which is their data. We publish counts of suggestions and how they group by intent, and we say when a number is a count rather than a volume.
